CaddieLab Golf Get Early Access

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 24, 2026

CaddieLab Golf ("CaddieLab," "Company," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the CaddieLab Golf mobile application ("App") and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.

Section 1

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in several ways depending on how you interact with the Service.

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

Data Type Examples
Account Information Name, email address, password, profile photo, display name
Profile Details Handicap index, home course, golf bag (club makes/models), skill level
Demographic Information Gender, age range, and dominant hand, collected during setup. These are used solely to select the right distance and scoring benchmarks to compare your game against — golf performance data is conventionally benchmarked by gender and age. Answers are stored on your profile and are never sold, shared with advertisers, or used to target advertising. You may change them at any time in Edit Profile
Attribution How you heard about CaddieLab (optional, and skippable during setup). Used only to understand which channels reach golfers
Golf Performance Data Scores, shot-by-shot data (club used, distance, lie, shot shape, miss direction), hole-by-hole statistics
Video Content Swing and putting recordings you capture or upload for AI analysis (see Section 2.5)
Voice Input Spoken commands during hands-free practice sessions. Speech is processed on your device for recognition; we receive the resulting text (e.g., a logged shot or session command), not a stored recording of your voice
Social Data Friend connections, activity feed interactions, comments, photos, group round and tournament participation
Communications Feedback, support requests, and other messages you send to us

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Data Type Examples
Location Data GPS coordinates during active rounds (used for shot tracking and distance calculations). If you use Auto Track, we also collect location in the background while a round is in progress, so shots can be mapped while your phone stays in your pocket. Background location is only collected during an active Auto Track round and stops when the round ends
Motion & Fitness Data During an Auto Track round, we read your device's motion sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope) and step/pedometer data to automatically detect golf swings and estimate walking between shots. This is used only for automatic shot detection during the round.

Separately, if you switch on Watch Motion Capture (off by default), we record a short window of wrist movement from your Apple Watch around each shot you track by hand, and retain it to develop automatic shot detection — see Section 2.6
Device Information Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, app version
Usage Data Features used, screens visited, session duration, interaction patterns
Push Notification Tokens Device tokens for delivering notifications (friend requests, group invites, etc.)

1.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Authentication providers: If you sign in via Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address as provided by that service
  • Golf course data: Course layouts, hole information, and GPS coordinates from GolfAPI.io
Section 2

2. How We Use Your Information

2.5 Swing & Putting Videos — AI Model Training

This section explains how we use the videos you submit to our AI Swing Analysis and AI Putting Analysis features. Please read it carefully.

When you record or upload a swing or putting video for analysis, we use that video to generate your personalized analysis. In addition, we may use your swing and putting videos — including the actual video footage, not only anonymized or aggregated data — to develop, train, test, evaluate, and improve CaddieLab's swing and putting analysis models and features. This may include:

  • Retaining your videos and their derived data (such as detected swing phases, measurements, and scores) for use in training and evaluating our models;
  • Human review of a subset of videos by our team or trusted contractors bound by confidentiality obligations, in order to label data, check quality, and improve accuracy;
  • Using videos to build and refine automated systems that assess golf technique.

Wherever practical, we take steps to reduce the personal information associated with videos used for model training (for example, by separating them from your name and account details). We do not use your videos to identify you through facial recognition, and we do not use them to build a biometric identifier of you.

Your choice (opt-out). Use of your videos for AI model training is optional. You may opt out at any time — this does not affect your ability to use the analysis features themselves. To opt out, email us at support@caddielabgolf.com (and, where available, use the in-app privacy setting). If you opt out, we will stop using your videos to train our models going forward. Videos that were already incorporated into a trained model before you opted out or deleted them cannot be individually removed from that model, but we will not use those videos for new training.

We do not sell your videos, and we do not use your videos or the analysis derived from them for advertising or to build advertising profiles.

Our AI providers process video content to perform analysis on our behalf under their own terms. See Section 3.2 for details on third-party AI processing.

2.6 Apple Watch Motion Capture — Optional

This is off unless you turn it on, in the App under Settings › Watch Motion Capture. Nothing described in this section is recorded while it is off.

When it is on, and you are playing a round in Shot Tracker Pro mode with an Apple Watch, the App records how your wrist moves — accelerometer and gyroscope readings, meaning acceleration and rotation — for the duration of the round, together with your position on the course. The moments you tell us you hit a shot are marked within the recording. No audio and no video is recorded, ever. Nothing is recorded outside an active round, and nothing is recorded unless you have switched this on.

We retain these recordings and use them to develop, train, test and improve automatic shot detection — so that your watch can eventually recognise shots without you tapping after each one. Recording the whole round rather than only the seconds around each shot is deliberate and necessary: teaching a system to recognise a golf shot requires showing it a great deal of ordinary activity that is not a golf shot. A subset may be reviewed by our team or by trusted contractors bound by confidentiality obligations, in order to label the data and check quality.

Your choice. You may switch this off at any time in the App. Nothing further is recorded from that point, and switching it off does not affect any other feature. To request deletion of recordings already collected, email support@caddielabgolf.com. Recordings already incorporated into a trained model cannot be individually removed from that model, but we will not use them for new training.

We do not sell these recordings, and we do not use them for advertising or to build advertising profiles.

Section 3

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the following circumstances:

3.1 With Other Users

Certain information is visible to other users of the Service based on your privacy settings:

  • Your display name and profile photo
  • Your handicap index and home course

  • To enforce our Terms of Service
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to you)
Section 4

4. Data Storage & Security

4.1 Storage

Your data is stored on servers operated by Supabase, which uses industry-standard cloud infrastructure. Data may be stored and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers maintain facilities.

4.2 Security Measures

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL)
  • Encryption of data at rest
  • Row-Level Security (RLS) policies on all database tables ensuring users can only access their own data
  • Secure authentication via Supabase Auth with support for Apple and Google sign-in
  • API keys and secrets stored securely in environment variables, never in client-side code

4.3 No Guarantee

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

Section 5

5. Data Retention

5.1 Active Accounts

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide you the Service. This includes your golf performance history, swing videos, and all associated analytics.

5.2 Deleted Accounts

When you delete your account through the App settings:

  • Your profile, scores, shots, and personal data are permanently deleted
  • Your swing and putting videos are removed from cloud storage
  • If you use Sign in with Apple, we revoke your Apple sign-in token as part of deletion
  • Anonymized and aggregated data derived from your usage may be retained, as it cannot reasonably be linked back to you
  • As described in Section 2.5, any videos already incorporated into a trained AI model before deletion cannot be individually removed from that model, but they are removed from our storage and are not used for further training
  • Account deletion is processed within 30 days of your request

5.3 Legal Retention

We may retain certain information as required by law, to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or for other legitimate business purposes.

Section 6

6. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

6.1 Access & Portability

You can access most of your data directly within the App (profile, scores, statistics, swing analyses). You may request a copy of your personal data by contacting us at support@caddielabgolf.com.

6.2 Correction

You can update your profile information, scores, and other data directly within the App at any time.

6.3 Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through the App settings (Settings > Delete Account). You may also request deletion by emailing support@caddielabgolf.com.

6.4 AI Model Training (Swing & Putting Videos)

As described in Section 2.5, use of your swing and putting videos for AI model training is optional. You can opt out at any time by emailing support@caddielabgolf.com (and, where available, through the in-app privacy setting).

6.5 Location & Background Location

You can disable location services for the App through your device settings at any time. Note that disabling location will prevent GPS shot tracking, distance features, and Auto Track from functioning. Background location is used only during an active Auto Track round; you can also decline "Always" location and continue to use the App's other features.

6.6 Motion & Fitness Data

Motion and step data is used only during Auto Track rounds to detect swings. You can disable motion/fitness access for the App through your device settings; doing so will disable automatic shot detection.

6.7 Apple Watch Motion Capture

As described in Section 2.6, recording wrist movement around your tracked shots is optional and off by default. You can switch it on or off at any time in the App under Settings › Watch Motion Capture. To request deletion of recordings already collected, email support@caddielabgolf.com.

6.8 Push Notifications

You can turn individual categories of notification on or off in the App under Settings → Notifications: Friends, Group Rounds, Tournaments, High-Fives & Comments, and Achievements & Badges. Turning a category off stops those notifications being created for you at all.

Replies from the CaddieLab team — an answer to feedback you sent, or confirmation of a course you asked us to add — are not switchable, because they respond to something you started. You can also disable notifications from CaddieLab entirely in your device's notification settings.

6.9 Camera & Microphone

The App requests camera access to record swing and putting videos, and microphone access for recording video audio and for hands-free practice voice commands. You can revoke these permissions through your device settings at any time.

Section 7

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Users between the ages of 13 and 18 may use the Service only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us with personal information without their consent should contact us at support@caddielabgolf.com.

Section 8

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to Know: You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you
  • Right to Delete: You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights

To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at support@caddielabgolf.com. We will verify your identity before processing your request.

Section 9

9. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other jurisdictions that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country. We will take reasonable steps to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

9.1 European Economic Area, United Kingdom & Switzerland (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the Service you request (e.g., tracking rounds, generating analytics, delivering AI analysis).
  • Consent: for optional processing such as using your swing and putting videos to train our AI models (Section 2.5), background location for Auto Track, motion/fitness sensing, and non-essential communications. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, and improve the Service and prevent fraud and abuse, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation: to comply with applicable law.

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent. Where data is transferred out of the EEA/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@caddielabgolf.com.

Section 10

10. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

The CaddieLab Golf App is a native mobile application and does not use browser cookies. However, we may use the following technologies:

  • Local Storage: We store preferences and cached data locally on your device (e.g., narration audio cache, saved settings)
  • Analytics: We may use anonymized analytics to understand how the App is used and to improve the Service
  • Authentication Tokens: We store secure authentication tokens on your device to keep you signed in

Our website (www.caddielabgolf.com) is a static site and does not use cookies or tracking scripts.
